Agribusiness
From row crops to livestock production, Jody’s agribusiness writing experience began as a student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Raised in western Nebraska, she grew up around horses, cattle, sheep, and lots of corn, alfalfa, and beans. Jody honed her writing and photography skills locally as a regional correspondent for the Scottsbluff Star-Herald nearly out of high school. When a call came from the Badger State, Jody moved to Wisconsin to join the public relations staff at Bader Rutter & Associates. There, she became acutely aware of the many farm practices, along with the many challenges growers face daily. She learned the decisions growers make to protect their investments and environment, and yet enhance yield potential for optimum growth. She worked closely with her clients to provide viable information to producers, distributors, retailers and the agricultural media community.

As an account executive, Jody helped coordinate the product launch for AGROTAIN® the first commercially-available nitrogen volatility inhibitor. The new product’s public relations program consisted of writing content for and organizing media and influencer information kits, personal media editorial visits. Jody obtained numerous producer and dealer product-testimonials by traveling throughout the Corn Belt and the southern U.S.  The AGROTAIN® account allowed Jody the opportunity to attend trade shows and personally provide growers and dealers with product information and answers to their crop nutrient questions. She was part of the team to help the owners of AGROTAIN® become the first-fertilizer company on the Internet.

Jody also supervised and wrote copy for the production of a 12-page bi-annual soil management publication for southern fertilizer sales representatives and their growers.  She helped coordinate the press conference for the world’s leader in tracked tractors. In addition, she wrote the content provided to the editors in the information kits and supervised client follow-up activities.

After three years at Bader Rutter, Jody became the first staff member to represent the Wisconsin-based company in Montana. During the next seven years, she traveled the California countryside, North Dakota beet fields and Montana ranches to conduct interviews and capture photographs to accompany product testimonials for a variety of agricultural-bases companies.
